Challenge
Grenadiers set up for touring often carry a rear-mounted spare wheel, ladder or a full cargo bay, and all three block the factory mirror’s view of the road behind. Reversing and parking become guesswork, and you have no independent video record if a dispute or insurance claim ever comes up.
Solution
The Wolfbox G900 Pro 12MP WiFi Touch Screen Smart Mirror Dash Cam replaces the factory mirror with a 12-inch touchscreen fed by a Sony STARVIS front camera and a dedicated rear camera, giving a 170-degree front view and a 150-degree rear view regardless of what’s loaded inside the vehicle. It records continuously from both cameras and locks footage automatically if its sensor detects an impact.
Proper fitting matters on a vehicle like the Grenadier. A vehicle-specific mounting bracket keeps the mirror steady over rough tracks, and wiring it correctly into the factory fuse box protects the electrical system and keeps the manufacturer’s warranty intact.
Execution
Technicians started by removing the factory rearview mirror from the Grenadier’s windshield mount. They assembled the Wolfbox Rear View Mirror Bracket made for the Grenadier together with the Wolfbox Universal Bracket for Mirror Dash Cam, fitted the completed bracket to the windshield, and clipped the G900 Pro smart mirror into place.
The team planned the cable run before touching any trim, then routed the front camera and power leads along the headliner and down the A-pillar, securing them at intervals so nothing rattles on rough roads. The rear camera was mounted on the rear door glass, positioned to stay clear of the spare wheel mount and the wiper arc.
Power was hardwired directly into the vehicle’s fuse box, connecting accessory power, constant battery power and earth so the parking monitor keeps working when the Grenadier is left unattended. With the trim panels back in place, technicians powered up the system, checked the touchscreen and menu response, levelled the camera angles, and confirmed the app connected over WiFi.
Results
The Grenadier now has a clear digital view behind the vehicle no matter what’s loaded in the back or mounted on the tailgate. Both cameras record continuously, all wiring is hidden behind the factory trim, and the hardwired connection keeps the parking monitor running while the vehicle is parked.
