Challenge
Reliable power is essential for long off-road trips. Factory electrical systems can struggle to maintain a steady voltage when running accessories like fridges, powerful lights, and radios. Without a separate power storage system, you risk draining the main starting battery. The system also needs to handle quick discharges and fast recharges, plus withstand rough conditions. Managing power from both the alternator and solar panels requires a smart setup to ensure all energy is used safely.
Solution
The REDARC Alpha50 BCDC charger and 150Ah Lithium Battery meet these power needs. Lithium batteries can be used more deeply than lead-acid ones, so you get more energy in a smaller, lighter package. The Alpha50 BCDC controls charging to help the battery last longer.
Having the system installed by professionals is important. Technicians make sure the wiring is safe and meets standards to prevent fires or shorts. They use the right cable sizes and add circuit breakers to protect the vehicle’s electrical system. Professional installation also maintains the warranty, giving the owner peace of mind.
Execution
The Adventure Additions team started by finding the best places to mount the equipment in the Ineos Quartermaster. They used custom brackets to keep the Alpha50 charger and 150Ah Lithium battery secure, so they stay in place even on rough roads.
The team installed 25mm DC power cables to handle high current flow without voltage drop. High-quality connectors and heat-shrink tubing were applied to all joins to prevent moisture ingress. A REDARC Pro Elite Electric Brake Controller was also integrated into the dash, providing the driver with precise control over towed loads. For future-proofing, the technicians pre-wired solar inputs to the front bonnet, allowing the owner to add bonnet-mounted solar panels later. Each circuit was protected with a 12V stud-type automatic reset circuit breaker to maintain system integrity.
Duration
The full installation, including the lithium upgrade and brake controller, took about 11 hours at the Adventure Additions Braeside facility.
Results
The Ineos Quartermaster now possesses a reliable, high-capacity electrical system capable of supporting prolonged remote travel. The integration of REDARC components enables efficient charging from both the vehicle and solar sources. All hardware is securely mounted and wired to professional standards, ensuring the Regional Director of Ineos Australia has a vehicle prepared for the most demanding Australian conditions.
