project details:

The operations manager of a local Braeside shipping and distribution centre contacted us requesting a rear vision system for their forklift. The client had been given feedback from their drivers that the narrow spaces they were operating in provided a complex and the sometimes dangerous environment when reversing the forklift.

The larger 7″ screen gives their drivers the most significant possible screen to utilize the camera’s view fully.

The heavy-duty camera was an obvious choice for the system, given the rough nature of the vehicle it was mounted on.

The wiring of this project presented us with some challenges, as many areas of the forklift experience a lot of heat when in operation. We also needed to allow for the pivot of the cab when servicing the vehicle and ensure our cabling would not restrict the movement of the cabin when trying to service.

We used the factory wiring paths to aid us in the decision of where to place our wires and found the perfect solution.

Our wiring allows the cabin to be tilted for service without any fear of damaging the cables and ensuring they are kept far away from heat and other elements that may damage wires when the forklift is operating.

The feedback from the drivers has been great, and they can now operate with a much higher degree of precision and safety when driving this larger forklift in the narrow spaces of their warehouse and yard.
