Challenge
Keeping enough power during long off-grid trips is a real challenge for today’s caravans. Most standard systems can’t handle high-power appliances or recharge quickly after heavy use. With limited battery storage, owners have to watch their energy use closely, and slow charging means the caravan often needs to stay parked or plugged in for hours to recharge. Installing bigger components also means carefully modifying the cabinetry so everything fits well and the interior stays strong and comfortable.
Solution
Installing the REDARC Alpha BCDC50 and PowerPaul LiFePO4 batteries creates a strong and reliable power system. Together, they increase both how fast the batteries can charge and how much energy you can store.
Professional installation is vital for these complex DC-to-DC and AC charging systems. Expert technicians ensure all wiring meets strict Australian safety standards and that high-current cabling is sized correctly to prevent voltage drop or overheating. Proper mounting and ventilation protect expensive components from vibrations and heat. Choosing a professional install also maintains the manufacturer’s warranty and ensures the vehicle remains compliant with insurance requirements.
Execution
The technicians at Adventure Additions began by stripping the original low-capacity battery setup. They modified the internal housing to accommodate the increased height of the REDARC Alpha BCDC50. To support the increased height, a custom-fabricated raised housing was installed, and high-density padding was added around the addition to fill the void above the battery housing to support the bench seat.
They upgraded the wiring to 100A cables to handle more current. The team connected the roof solar panels straight to the Alpha BCDC50 and sent portable solar inputs to the Manager30. This setup lets you get the most from your solar panels.
Results
The upgrade made a big difference to the Track T4 Rhapsody’s power. Charging speed jumped from 30 to 70 Amps, and battery storage went from 200Ah to 700Ah. Now, the batteries can fully charge in under 10 hours instead of 25 hours with the original system. The changes to the cabinetry and seating keep the system safe and the living space comfortable.
