Having acquired his dream vehicle, a brand new Landcruiser Troop Carrier, the customer wanted to set up a removable lithium battery power station to use with his car during camping trips.
The customer’s brief was challenging but straightforward. He was looking for a safe, portable lithium power station that would fit behind the driver’s seat in the car and could be easily removed. He had a laundry list of components he wanted included, so we had our work cut out.
We designed the power station to follow the angle and contour of the vehicle’s seats where the station would be operated. Along with the DC/DC and solar charging components, we built the all-in-one system in line with all the customers’ needs, including multiple USBs, Cigarette lighters, red and grey Anderson plugs, and a disconnectable inverter. Flush mounting the Anderson panels adapted explicitly to the Troop allows the customer to use the power station exterior of the car easily.
Keeping ventilation, heat distribution and the tight space where the lithium battery power station would be used was top of mind when designing the power box. We built it from scratch to optimally place ventilation grills to dissipate any heat produced sufficiently.
We designed the system with the client’s ease of use in mind. We ensured all the components were clearly labelled, and a detailed handover ensured the customer could confidently use the system when travelling.
