Communication equipment is essential for four-wheel driving. Adventure Additions recently fitted a GME XRS Connect Compact Hideaway UHF Radio with Bluetooth and an AE4704B aerial to a 2025 Ford Ranger.
This UHF radio ensures clear, uninterrupted contact in remote areas. The aerial maximises transmission and reception range.
Secondary products also provide essential capability.
These additions prepare the Ford Ranger for towing and remote touring.
The Installation Process
The GME XRS Connect unit is hidden, keeping the interior clutter-free. The remote speaker microphone is the only visible part of the radio inside the cab.
The handpiece plugs into a GME Universal RJ45 pass-through adaptor, which is mounted neatly into the lower dash. The installation required minimal modifications to the Ford Ranger’s interior.
All wiring uses high-quality components.
For the rear power setup, Adventure Additions installed a Grey 50A Anderson plug. This included a Grey Anderson plug to connect the power and a NARVA 12V 140 AMP VSR. The final step was connecting the additional power lines to the trailer plug.
The Outcome
The Ford Ranger now has reliable communication and enhanced towing readiness. The hidden GME XRS Connect radio maintains the vehicle’s clean interior. The remote speaker microphone is easily accessible and user-friendly.
The adaptor is flush-mounted, offering a tidy connection point. The microphone is easy to hold and ready for communication. This setup ensures the driver stays in contact, enhancing safety on long trips.
