The owner of an Apache Navigator 15 caravan visited Adventure Additions due to ongoing electrical problems caused by the original factory wiring. The goal was to replace the entire system with a reliable and modern setup. The new design incorporates key components to protect, control, and monitor the caravan’s power. A Victron SmartShunt acts as an accurate battery fuel gauge, while a Victron Orion XS DC-DC charger ensures the service battery receives a full, healthy charge from the vehicle’s alternator. For power distribution, an Exotronic Busbar centralises connections, and an Exotronic Midi Fuse Holder provides critical, high-amperage circuit protection.
The project began with diagnostics to identify the faults in the old system. Adventure Additions technicians then disassembled and removed all the redundant factory wiring. They mapped out the new system, running a fresh 35mm DC power cable to safely handle the loads. The team installed the Victron Orion XS charger and the SmartShunt monitor. All circuits were then cleanly routed to the new busbar and fuse holder, using high-quality electrical consumables for secure connections. The final step involved a complete test of every circuit and appliance to confirm the correct operation.
