Electrical Upgrades for a Pioneer Mitchell Camper Trailer

Enhance the camper’s off-grid capabilities by upgrading power systems and installing advanced electronic components to improve functionality and user convenience.

About the Camper:

The Pioneer Mitchell is an Australian-manufactured hybrid camper trailer designed for off-road adventures. It combines a hard-floor camper’s durability with a hard roof’s security, offering a compact yet robust solution for travellers seeking comfort in remote locations.

Products Installed:

• Narva heavy-duty USB and USB-C socket: Provides high-powered charging with real-time voltage and current monitoring.
• Redarc Manager 30: Advanced battery management system integrating charging, monitoring, and power distribution.
• Renogy Inverter: Converts DC to AC power, enabling the use of standard household appliances off-grid.

Solution:
Adventure Additions provided a comprehensive electrical overhaul to optimise the camper’s power systems:

• Installed a Renogy Inverter, securely mounted and wired, enabling seamless conversion of DC to AC power for off-grid use.
• Rewired the 240V wiring with a focus on safety, including RCD mounting and wiring.
• Upgraded USB ports to high-powered Narva heavy-duty USB and USB-C sockets with integrated volt/amp meters for efficient device charging and monitoring.
• Installed an additional mains cable to the Redarc Manager 30 battery management system, bypassing the mains pass-through of the Renogy Inverter for improved power routing.
• Replaced the external GPO with a 240V double black PowerPoint, equipped with dust covers and seals for durability in harsh environments.
• Integrated a 16A wall mount with housing for robust power access.

The upgraded electrical system enhanced the Pioneer Mitchell’s off-grid capability, ensuring reliable power management, efficient charging, and improved user convenience. These improvements supported the camper’s robust design for remote adventures.
